 WAYS TO GET TO PLACES

1.   Walk.
2.  Drive.
3.  Take a taxi.
4.  Take the train.
5.  Take the bus.
6.  Take the subway.
7.  Take a tram.

GRAMMAR – THE IMPERATIVE
We use imperatives to give instructions and directions.

AFFIRMATIVE IMPERATIVES

-     Walk (to work.)
-    Drive (to the bank.)

NEGATIVE IMPERATIVES

-       Don’t walk.
-       Don’t drive.

NOTE

Don’t = Do not.

CONVERSATION EXAMPLE

A: Can I walk to the library from here or is it too far away?
B: The library? Yes you can, it’s across the street.
A: And what about the bank?
B: The bank? Don’t walk. Drive, it’s quite far from here.
A: Ok. Thank you.

WAYS TO GET AROUND

1.   A car.
2.  A bicycle.
3.  A moped.
4.  A subway.
5.  A bus.
6.  A taxi.

USE BY TO EXPRESS MEANS

1.   By taxi – I go by taxi to work.
2.  By motorcycle – I go by motorcycle to university.

CONVERSATION EXAMPLE

PETER: How do you go to work?
Jane: By train. What about you?
Peter: Me? I go by car.
