Grammar – Beginners – Lesson One
     BE – PRESENT TENSE
      Subject & verb


The verb ‘be” is the most important verb in English. If it’s taught well, it’s SUPER EASY.
          -       It has three forms in the present tense: am, is and are.
-       It has two forms in the past tense: was and were.
   -       The verb ‘be’ is also used to make the passive voice.


                  SINGULAR – PRESENT TENSE
                     SUBJECT       VERB
                                      am
                          He              is          
                          She             is    
                          You           are

-       Note - YOU' can be singular or plural.
-       You are beautiful. (Singular)

Examples

   - I am British.
-       He is a teacher.
-       She is a cook.
-       You are a student.
-       It is an apple.

  PLURAL – PRESENT TENSE
SUBJECT       VERB
You             are
We             are
They           are


-       Note - ‘YOU’ can be singular or plural.
-       You are students. (Plural)

Examples

-       You are doctors.
-       We are happy.
-       They are Italian.
