GRAMMAR – BEGINNERS - LESSON NINE – HAVE – PRESENT TENSE


FORM

SUBJECT+ HAVE/HAS

1.   We use have for description, ownership or ability.

-       I have a big house.
2.  Have is also used in place of verbs such as Eat and Drink.

-       He has a bowl of cereal every morning.

3.  Have is also a helping verb. We can use have/has + the past participle to create The Present Perfect Tense.

-       He has seen that movie three times.


Have / Singular

-       I have.
-       You have.
-       She has.
-       He has.
-       It has.

Have Plural

-       We have.
-       You have.
-       They have.

EXAMPLES

-       I have a car.
-       You have an English lesson today.
-       He has a bicycle.
-       She has a pair of new shoes.
-       The chocolate bar has lots of nuts inside it.
-       We have an appointment today.
-       You all have time to study.
-       They have a trip tomorrow.


HAVE – PRESENT – NEGATIVE

FORM

SUBJECT + DON’T/DOESN’T + HAVE

SINGULAR

-       I don’t have.
-       You don’t have.
-       He doesn’t have.
-       She doesn’t have.
-       It doesn’t have.

PLURAL

-       We don’t have.
-       You don’t have.
-       They don’t have.

EXAMPLES

-       I don’t have time.
-       He doesn’t have a car.
-       We don’t have work today.
